Where it works
Install your bird boxes 2-5 meters above the ground, ideally facing north or northeast to shield from direct sunlight and rain.
Ensure the box has a clear flight path, free from obstacles, so birds can safely come and go.
For predator protection, position the box securely on a tree, wall or fence post.
Birds need their own little corner to feel safe when nesting, so keep some distance between The Robin and other bird boxes/feeders to avoid territorial squabbles.
Why it matters
Open-fronted nesting spaces are becoming harder to find, making it more difficult for robins and spotted flycatchers to find safe places to raise their young. A well-positioned box like The Robin offers the quiet and protected shelter they need.
