Where it works
Install your bird boxes 2-5 meters above the ground, ideally facing north or northeast to shield from direct sunlight and rain.
Ensure the box has a clear flight path, free from obstacles, so birds can safely come and go.
For predator protection, position the box securely on a tree, wall or fence post.
Birds need their own little corner to feel safe when nesting, so keep some distance between The Swift and other bird boxes/feeders to avoid territorial squabbles.
Why it matters
Swifts and house martins are in decline in the UK due to the loss of natural nesting sites and changing agricultural practices. The Swift offers them a place to nest while contributing to the preservation of their species.
Every BrdBx is handcrafted by RAW Oxford, a social enterprise supporting people rebuilding their lives. When you choose The Swift, you’re welcoming swifts and martins into your garden, while helping to create brighter futures. It’s a choice that feels good for your garden, the planet and the community.
