Where it works
Install your bird boxes 2-5 meters above the ground, ideally facing north or northeast to shield from direct sunlight and rain.
Ensure the box has a clear flight path, free from obstacles, so birds can safely come and go.
For predator protection, position the box securely on a tree, wall or fence post.
Birds need their own little corner to feel safe when nesting, so keep some distance between The Terrace and other bird boxes/feeders to avoid territorial squabbles.
Why it matters
Sparrows like to live and raise their young in close communities, but natural spaces for colonial nesting like this are increasingly scarce. The Terrace provides three side-by-side chambers, helping those sociable birds find safety in numbers.
Handcrafted by RAW Oxford, a social enterprise powered by a skilled team of people who have overcome significant life challenges. When you choose The Terrace, you’re not just inviting nature closer, you’re supporting brighter futures. It’s a choice that feels good for your garden, your community and the planet.
